Research Peptides in Canada: A Buyer's Guide

Everything Canadian researchers should know before ordering peptides — from regulatory status and supplier quality to storage, payment and shipping without customs.

What are research peptides?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids — essentially small proteins. “Research peptides” are synthetic versions produced for laboratory study: receptor-binding experiments, cell-culture work, analytical method development and preclinical models. They are typically supplied as a freeze-dried (lyophilized) powder in sealed glass vials, which keeps the material stable during storage and shipping.

In Canada, products sold as research peptides are not drugs authorized by Health Canada. Reputable suppliers sell them strictly for in-vitro research, label them “for research purposes only,” and do not market them for human or veterinary use, give dosing instructions or make health claims. Health Canada has taken action against sellers that market unauthorized products for human use, so be wary of any supplier that does.

This guide is general information, not legal advice. Buyers are responsible for complying with all federal, provincial and institutional requirements that apply to their research.

How to choose a peptide supplier

  • Domestic shipping. A Canadian supplier avoids customs holds, duties and weeks of uncontrolled transit.
  • Batch documentation. Ask for a Certificate of Analysis matched to the lot number on your vial.
  • Clear labelling. Each vial should state the compound, amount per vial, storage conditions and “for research purposes only.”
  • Transparent pricing in CAD. Avoid surprise exchange fees and brokerage charges.
  • Responsible marketing. Suppliers that promise human health benefits or provide dosing guidance are a red flag.
  • Responsive Canadian support. You should be able to reach a real person in your time zone.

Purity, testing and COAs

Two analytical methods matter most. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) separates a sample into its components and reports purity as a percentage of the main peak. Mass spectrometry (MS) confirms identity by measuring the molecular mass and comparing it with the expected value. A useful COA lists the lot number, test date, method, purity result, identity result and net content per vial.

Storage and handling

Lyophilized peptides are relatively stable, but heat, light and moisture degrade them over time. Common lab practice is to keep sealed vials at −20 °C, protected from light, and to let a vial reach room temperature before opening so condensation doesn't form inside. Short periods at ambient temperature during domestic shipping are normal for freeze-dried material.

Shipping and customs

Orders from overseas suppliers can be held, inspected or refused at the border, and international transit can take two to six weeks. Ordering from a Canadian company removes that risk. RevitaCore ships from British Columbia to every province and territory with tracking: dispatch in 1–2 business days, delivery in 2–5 business days for most of Canada, $20 flat-rate shipping and free shipping on orders over $300.

Payment options

Most Canadian suppliers accept Interac e-Transfer, and many also take credit cards. RevitaCore accepts Interac e-Transfer with a 10% discount — your order ships as soon as the transfer arrives.

Frequently asked questions

Is it legal to buy research peptides in Canada?

Research peptides are sold in Canada as laboratory research materials, not as approved drugs. They are not authorized by Health Canada for human use, and suppliers may not market them for human consumption. Buyers are responsible for complying with all applicable laws.

Why buy peptides from a Canadian supplier?

A Canadian supplier ships domestically, so orders avoid customs inspections, brokerage fees, currency conversion and the long transit times common with offshore suppliers.

What is a COA?

A Certificate of Analysis is a batch-specific lab report that documents a compound's identity (usually by mass spectrometry) and purity (usually by HPLC).
